Trusting in His Goodness: Week 9 - Chapter 9, Beyond 'till death do us part'

Themes of love, lies and truth swirl through this chapter on the covenantal aspect of our relationship with God, our Lord, Savior, Redeemer, Indweller, Friend and Lover. I found myself reading this chapter as if it was a love letter to me—a letter filled with truth that leads to hope.

My story is different than Cheryl’s—the woman Mimi and Shelly write about to help us understand the truth of God’s covenant relationship with us. Yet, I too have believed lies—I too need to listen and believe the healing truth. You may, too.

Please pay particular notice to the Scriptures in this chapter. Spend time in them. Notice how their truth applies and has been real in your life. Would you pick just one of the Scriptures and share how it impacts you, please? Then, I’d love to hear how being in a covenant relationship with our God has impacted your life. I look forward to hearing from you!

I am just struck at how this chapter... and the topic of God's amazing, mind-boggling faithful covenant love... has come up and "slapped" me in the face over and over again this past week. :) I have stumbled over reading Hosea this week (and last). And, coupled with this chapter ---wow!, I am overwhelmed---!!
Our husband, God Almighty, is a faithful lover and a jealous one, too! He is hurt by us and longs for us. And, He is ever and always pursuing us, His Bride and He never gives up! His faithful love is beyond anything human, beyond anything I could ever hope or imagine.
...I will be camping in Hosea for a while longer.
I love the way God sometimes weaves my reading from here-there-and-everywhere and has one message that remains!

I agree with Stephanie! I was teaching through Hosea this past week for our bible training institute and gained so much richness from it and this chapter. The people believed lies so much that they couldn't see the truth even when Hosea was telling them. Even so, God kept loving them and trying to bring them back to him.

I know I need to speak truth to the lies I listen to in my head, but I often do not. This chapter has encouraged me to do that. I need to be praying that the Lord would open my eyes to see those lies that I am believing so much that I can't see the truth and ask him to help me see him and his covenant love instead. What amazing grace is found in being in this covenant relationship with him!

How very fun that God led both of you to Hosea and reinforced His teaching through that amazing story. Our God is awesome.
